Photo Challenge Friday: The Colours of Life

Hey Humble Readers!  I sure hope that you are having a great Friday.

Ok, so... the colours of life.  Hmmmm...

The only pics I have taken lately are of a meal I made earlier this week, which I want to use for a Show & Tell, so that means that it's time to delve into the archives. 

When we stepped out of the Port Authority bus terminal on our first day in NYC last fall, I remember feeling like I was on stimulation overload.  I was overwhelmed by the number of people, the colours, the images.  I didn't know where to look, there was always something else to see.  Everything felt bright, like it was moving faster than I could take it all in.  Dizzying.

And of course I can't show just one pic!

This one just really amused me.  If you haven't been there, there is a groovy Hershey's store in Times Square.  I just had to take a picture of it, especially for one of my co-workers who's addicted to peanut butter cups.

A completely different topic:  If you haven't watched it, you need to check out the new show "Who Do You Think You Are?"!!  It follows  a few celebs as they trace their family trees.  I sort of watched it earlier while I was making dinner, and I was so intrigued that I'm watching it again.  Tonight's episode is about Sarah Jessica Parker... she learns some incredible things about her family history.  I am soooo envious of her doing this!

Now, looking around my home, and really around my life, there is one particular area where there is a ton of variety.

Books! The things you can experience, the places you can travel to, the people you can meet...

So many things to learn about...

And so many things to dream about...

We have a house guest for the next two weeks. He arrived tonight with almost as much stuff as a baby would (and almost as many instructions :) ), and his mom & dad are on their way to Mexico. He's a goofy little thing, with a serious addiction to peanut butter and baby carrots. It will be fun to have a fur-baby for a couple weeks. Be prepared for some pug-tastic pictures!

Friday Photo Challenge #1 - Strength

Good Evening Humble Readers!

And welcome to the inagural Friday Photo Challenge. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to pop over and see Lindsay the Steadfast Warrior! (All are welcome... so please do stop by!)

The theme for the first week is strength. While I know that Lindsay intended for us to take a new picture, something that struck us this week as embodying strength, I was just at a loss to find anything.

So I started going through my pictures, and I came across these Both are from our first day in NYC back in September.

The first is 30 Rockefeller Center... 30 Rock. The immensity of the building and the power implied by the architecture exude strength.

And while this one is a little more obvious, I love this statue. We actually stumbled on in when we got lost coming out of Rockefeller Center (we thought we were coming out on the other side of the complex). Atlas holding the celestial spheres... strength in bronze.
