A Conundrum

Hey Humble Readers...

I'm looking for some advice.

But first, I need to say

BELOVED, GO AWAY!

THIS POST IS NOT FOR YOUR EYES!  IF YOU READ THIS YOU WILL BE RUINING YOUR CHRISTMAS SURPRISE!

IF I FIND OUT THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS, YOU WILL JUST GET COAL FOR CHRISTMAS!  That's a promise!

Ok, enough exclamation points.

There is an item that I know my Beloved would love, but at regular prices, it's just out of our budget.  It is the one item that I have been hoping and hoping would go on sale sometime before Christmas.  I was actually planning on waiting until Black Friday and hoping for a great price.

Just FYI, for my American readers, the last Friday of November in Canada is really nothing like what it is for you.  The only comparison in Canada is our Boxing Day sales, the day after Christmas.  Only in the last couple of years have Canadian retailers started doing some major discounting on that particular day.

Anywho, in my weekly perusal of the flyers, I discovered that Wally World has a pretty good price on this thingy.  It's about 22% off it's regular price.  I checked all the other usual flyers where they might sell this, and this is far and away the best price out there right now.

Soooooo.... do I buy it now, or do I wait?  Do I go with a good price now, and be done with it?  Or do I wait and hope for a better price in a couple of weeks?

What would you do?

Be back later with a Foodie Friday post!

  1. If it was me I would definitely, definitely, definitely buy it now.

Then again I'm American and black Friday isn't something I would go to anymore because it starts out all innocent until someone is publicly beheaded over a beanie baby.

So yes, buy now! Buy now.

  2. I would buy it now. You never know what the prices will be in a few weeks. I know that some retail locations pump up prices before the holidays, just so the sales "look better". Plus, this will take it off of your "to do" list! That is a really great price, btw! One of my friends just got one "on sale" for $100.

    Great gift!

  3. Here's the thing....the item is great, but how much does your beloved drink? There are smaller versions of the same thing. I really REALLY wanted the big one, but my sister and her hubs have the single version and they love it...it doesn't take any longer than the big one, it just costs more...however that price is pretty darn good....I was gong to use a coupon to buy it for a similar price...

And I don't do the black friday thing here...in fact the news is reporting better prices now than offered on black friday....SO yeah, I'm with Stork...get it now...or see if the smaller one is cheaper still and save yourself the extra $$ for buying the matching carousel or different flavors :)

  4. I don't do much Christmas shopping at all, but here are my 2 cents. First, can you return it? If so, then buy it now for sure. If not, I personally would still buy it anyway. For me, getting a good price and getting it out of the way beats the possibility (but not guarantee) of getting a slightly better price down the road. I guess the real question is how much do you think you might save by waiting, and is that savings worth the inconvenience? For me, the answer is no.

  5. I'd get it now! (Are any of the other name brands on sale or are you sold on this one?) also, a friend was selling a used one in her online FB consignment shop that got snatched up right away! Just an idea budget wise. :)

  6. Check the return policy and then buy it now, don't take it out of the box, and keep the receipt. Usually you can return things still in box with a receipt up to 30 days. So if it is cheaper within the next 30 days, you can buy it at the cheaper price and return the first one.

  8. If you're truly sold on this one, I would:

    1: buy it now.
2: keep it in the box, and keep the receipt.
3: If you decide on a different one or a smaller one, then you can exchange it.
