What Do You Wanna Know?

Hey Humble Readers...

I know I mentioned this a couple of days ago, but I have hit a big-time wall of BLAH.

Blame it on the ever lovin' heat.

Blame it on the fact that I somehow managed to kill yet another basil plant (what the h-e-double-hockey sticks am I doing wrong????).

Blame it on AF... on potty-training challenges... on what appears to be a teething three month old.

Whatever it is, my creative juices have been sucked dry.

And so I am looking to you all, my regular Humble Readers, ICLW visitors, random folks who just happened to click through and landed here at my hobbit-hole to please help me.

Do you have any questions for me?  Things you want to know about me?  My opinions?  Pretty much anything is fair game.

I'll post my responses on Friday.

  1. First, I'll bet that the basil needs better soil. It probably has nothing to do with you. If it's outside, try mixing the existing soil half and half with something like nutrimulch. You should be able to get a small bag of something like that for under $5. And then make sure you "side water" instead of just dumping water over the top, which can seperate the stems a little too much and cause damage. Other than that, you should be good. It does better in morning sun/afternoon shade, but that's just to keep the leaves soft and plump. But good luck!!! I know when I lived in WY, it was impossible to grow anything at all... so I'm wondering if Canada is the same? LOL. Just because they're both, um ... cold? :)

And I have no advice for blog topics. I'm in such a rut myself. Partly for the reasons you stated, and also partly ... mostly... because people in my real life have found my blog... which is okay, I guess. It's not like I'm trying to hide anything, and I do appreciate when they read and comment... I guess I just don't like to have them call me, text me, or ask me in public for more details and specifics than what I felt free to share. I'm feeling very exposed and I no longer feel safe to talk on my blog about a lot of things I'd really like to talk about. And it sucks, because I don't want to offend anyone, because I like and value all of them. I just wish they'd read something about blogging manners. I almost decided to do a post about that, but figured it would hurt/offend... but I figured it would go something like "you're welcome to read, but if you do then you may NEVER talk about it to me in real life. Make a comment like everyone else, and then forget that you ever read it." LOL. Okay, I'm taking up all your space. Sheesh! I thought I had blogger block. Ha! :)

  2. Hello! Thanks for visiting my blog! I recently visited Northern California and thought that it would be the ideal setting for hobbits. Outside the Shire, of course. My favorite quote/passage:

“PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.

GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.

    PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?

GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.

    GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.”

I hope you find your muse soon enough!

  3. Hi from ICLW, and thanks so much for visiting my blog. Grrr...heat. I'm so over it. Hmmm...my question is: What do you look forward to most in the fall? I suppose basil won't grow at that time anyway, right? ;-)

Here's a question for you: I just saw the trailer for "The Hobbit": and very curious your thoughts on the upcoming movie!

  5. Hi, thanks for the comment on my blog! :) I like your Hobbit theme. Now, I have to go look up a picture of an Ent... Good luck on the potty training, sounds a bit scary to me too. Here's a question: How would you do if you had one day to do anything/go anywhere with your husband?

  7. Hi from ICLW. Thanks for commenting on my blog. I love the hobbit theme! I did not know a lot about hobbits, but based on your description, I think I might be one too :)
Oh, and I am also death to plants. Seriously, I once had a hydrangea for about 2 hours and it died. I have no idea??
Question: what will you try to grow next?

  9. ICLW #4. I hopped over from your comment at Window to Our World about the eczema -- our girl was having miserable problems with eczema from the time she started rolling over to the time she started walking. It turned out that ours was triggered by a contact allergy either with the carpet or with the dog allergens in the carpet. Once she got up on her feet, her flares have pretty much disappeared. Don't know if that helps at all, but it's another thing to look for :)

  10. Hey lady!

Sorry about the Blahs - they sure do suck.

If you had a basil plant for more than a day I say you are ahead of the game - there has not a plant in this house that didn't perform harakiri rather than leave me in charge of it's life.

A question... Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd - you have to screw one, marry one and kill one - GO.

Hobbits are social creatures, and love hearing from friends old and new. Pull up a comfy chair and let's get to know one another.
