Show & Tell: Flowers in Winter

Good Morning Humble Readers!
So it's been a while since I've stepped up to the front of the class and participated in Mel's Show & Tell. For those of you who don't know, show & tell is not just for school kids. Everyone is permitted and encouraged to step up and show or tell (or both) something... anything.
Today I'm showing some beautiful flowers that I grew myself! Yes, you read that right... I grew them! Me, the one with the black thumb. (my one un-hobbit-ish trait)
These are called paperwhites (some form of narcissus, I think).
I bought the bulbs and vase in a kit from my store at Christmas. It was far too easy to plant them, and they started growing right away, so I think that's what kept me motivated to keep watering them (my usual downfall). I also bought an amarylis bulb kit at the same time. It's doing well, and I will post pics when it blooms.

Now, two favours to ask... first up, don't forget to click over to Mel's place to check out what the class is showing. Second, scroll down and check out what we had for dinner last night. I was so happy with how it turned out, (seriously, it tasted as good as it looks) that I want everyone to try it.

  3. Ooooh, well done! As someone with a black thumb myself, I am very impressed.

My friend bought me the kit to grow paperwhites for Christmas. I hope they grow that beautiful!

  4. Look at you with your crazy awesome gardening skillz. I love paperwhites, they smell so good. Let me know if you find a way to keep them from drooping 90 degrees after a couple of weeks. I had that problem from time to time. You, madam have inspired me. I may have to hit the local awesome gardening store and pick up a pot of something lovely.

  5. I love all narcissi, but paperwhites are so lovely in the dead of winter. Like IF Optimist, mine last year bent over and I had a heck of a time getting them to stay upright.

    Kuddos, Lady!

  6. Wow, those are very pretty. I cannot plant or keep anything alive, especially indoors. Great job.

  7. The paperwhites are gorgeous! I love all bulbs - they smell so lovely. Do yours smell as pretty as they look?

And the chicken looks delicious and will have to go into my list of new foods to make.

    :o)

  8. Catching up...

--First and foremost, thank you for your support this week. I soooo appreciate you!

--Your flowers look great! Love the look. BTW, I am LOVING the bright yellow wall in your kitchen. How cool!

--Your food prowess makes me salivate. I (sadly) think even with your recipe I could not make the delightful chicken...but boy oh boy did it look delicious!

--YAY for you exercising every day. I've already slacked on my resolution. Partly because the weather here has been so cold...but I know that's just an excuse.

    --Cool ice cube idea. :)

    Hugs!

Hobbits are social creatures, and love hearing from friends old and new. Pull up a comfy chair and let's get to know one another.
