Good Evening Humble Readers...
Well, after much angst and worry, I believe O happened... what has now become 'right on time' on CD 17. At least I think it's safe to say that after three months of this, it can be called usual. What's throwing me though is all the EWCM (8 days!). I just don't quite get it.

On the Menu Tonight: Meatloaf, Fully-loaded mashed potatoes, and salad. Meatloaf, of course, is rather dull, but my potatoes were outstanding. Mashed, with butter, roasted garlic, cheese, chives, and bacon bits. Yum!
This week's menu has been posted. I'm particularly excited about the brisket on Sunday.

Does anyone know... is it possible to freeze homemade tomatoe sauce? I'm thinking about it, because of all the bpa's [note on edit: apparently I can't type bpa... any acronym that starts with b must be bfp or bfn.] in the can linings. Also, I make a pretty good tomatoe sauce out of canned tomatoes as it is, and I'm sure if I made it from fresh tomatoes it would be better.

I love washing the car. Ok, not the interior. But I luurve taking the car to the car wash! (not the automatic kind, the wand wash) There is something so incredibly satisfying about watching all the gunk and mud slip away. I love the brush with the foam. Small things for small minds, right?

Of course, you may be asking yourself... why is Mrs. Gamgee washing the car in JANUARY, in ALBERTA... IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER?!?!? Because, dear Humble Reader, it has been so warm out that everything is a royal mess (and poor Petey the PT Cruiser was looking like a Jackson Pollack painting). It's been above freezing every day this week. This is seriously west coast weather. It's not even a chinook... there's no wind. I didn't wear my winter coat to work today. Crazy!

If you are in need of a good laugh, you need to check out tonight's post from Murgdan. And when I say good laugh, I mean don't-be-drinking-milk-unless-you-want-it-0ut-your-nose laugh. Hilarious!
While I might not be a hobbit genetically, I do believe that I am one culturally. A homebody at heart, with a fear of (but slight craving for) adventure, who values simple things like good food, good books, and good friends. Chronicling the journey of the unlikely pairing of a Hobbit and an Ent, who have travelled down the road through infertility & RPL, toward building our family. We've come a long way, and now with two precious wee-lings in tow, our road goes ever on and on...

I totally get you on the wiping grime away. I'm a saw dust addict. Anytime I see it I can't wait to take a broom to it. The clean streaks in the middle of chaos is therapeutic. Yeah, I'm weird.
ReplyDeleteI love to freeze things (that doesn't sound good). Tomato sauce freezes well. If you're worried about bpa's, freezing in plastic containers seems fine as long as you don't reheat in the plastic container. Or you could go all fancy and find glass containers. Sometimes to save room, I let the sauce cool and pour it into ziplock bags and freeze them flat.
ReplyDeleteSigh... I love freezing things.
About O'ing, I tried for months assuming that I was O'ing at somewhat a normal time (Day 14 - 18 or so of a 28 day cycle). It wasn't until I was temping and using FF that I found out I was consistently O'ing on Day 21 or 22 (gah.)
Too much EWCM is better than too little! Good luck in your TWW...
ReplyDeleteCome on, lucky number 22!
I agree with the PP, too much ewcm is never a bad thing!! Lots of ladies have too little. Fingers are crossed for you! :)
ReplyDeleteI freeze homemade tomato sauce. I have both froze it in ziplock bags and saved glass jars from various other things I buy and freeze sauce in those.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Congrats on the O!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, tomato sauces freeze beautifully! I have found the ziploc method the easiest (and cuts down on bulk if you have a small freezer like I do!).
we freeze Tomato Sauce all the time, we use recycled glass jam jars, but the zip lock thing sounds like a plan.
ReplyDeleteYAY for O showing up. Good luck.
If you freeze them in ziploc bags, think about double bagging them (with the ziplocs ate opposing ends). This gives you a little extra protection.
ReplyDeleteWell hopefully all that EWCM will pay off big time this month.
ReplyDeleteI think that using the wand to wash your can could be very zen, given the right mindset. Why not enjoy the little things? Good for you MrsG!
I don't think that meatloaf is dull. I make an awesome honey-glazed chipotle meatloaf that is fabulous. Take your regular recipe for meatloaf, add a couple of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce to the meat mixture. Then add some cumin, chili powder, another tablespoon of adobo sauce and honey to the ketchup on the top -- freaking delicious. It is one of MrBeep's favs.
I'm another one for finding cleaning theraputic... maybe it's because I don't do the mundane day-to-day cleaning. For me, it's bathrooms though, I love cleaning and scrubbing all that white.
